What families say about Clovis communities
Assisted Living
My parents needed somewhere to stay while my mother recovered from a head injury sustained in a fall. For the remainder of her recovery, I had to move her from a skilled facility into assisted living until she was able to return to LA. Orchard Park was amazing. Although we had previously seen another facility, it wasn't as well-maintained as Orchard Park. The facility was clean and easy to use for my parents. Vanessa was amazing in helping us get set up. One bedroom was available in Room 101. It was a good size, and the location was excellent. There was an elevator just a few steps away. The dining room was also within walking distance. The freshly prepared popcorn was a favorite of my dad. The facility had hard flooring instead of carpet, which made it look and smell clean. We were also considering another place that smelled horrible as soon as we entered. They had carpet and the layout was confusing. Orchard Park was cleaner and had a simpler floor plan. My parents were well-known to the staff, who became very close to them. While Mom was reluctant to leave her room, Dad made many friends. My dad was able to push the button in mom's room and get help right away. Staff called me every time there was a concern. My mom received excellent care. My dad did not require assistance, but he enjoyed his stay. Mom was able to recover so they moved back home to Los Angeles. However, if they had to move to Clovis Orchard Park would be the best place to choose.

My mother-in-law moved to Carmel Village in September last year. She is completely bedridden and needs round-the-clock care. She was also in hospice care. We are beyond grateful to Carmel Village for moving her in such a difficult time. Staff are kind, caring, and professional beyond our expectations. Every day we visit and leave feeling that our loved ones are safe, loved, and receiving exceptional care. It is beautiful. It's almost like Great Grandma is in a really nice hotel! Our grandchildren agree. We wish she could have all that Carmel Village has, but that will not happen. We are grateful for the kindness and professionalism of all staff.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are the criteria for Assisted Living in Clovis?
California-licensed Assisted Living communities serve seniors who need daily help with activities like bathing, dressing, medications, or meals but who don't require continuous skilled nursing. Clovis communities complete a health and needs assessment before move-in to confirm they can provide the right level of care under state licensing rules.
Does Medicare pay for Assisted Living?
No. Medicare doesn't cover room, board, or daily-living help in Assisted Living communities. Clovis residents can still use Medicare benefits for approved medical care they receive while living in a community — doctor visits, eligible therapies, and short-term hospital stays.
How much does Assisted Living cost per month in Clovis, CA?
California's median for Assisted Living is set by the 2025 industry cost-of-care survey, with Clovis-area communities pricing at or near the statewide figure. Actual rates depend on suite size and care level. A BoomersHub advisor can confirm current pricing at any Clovis community for free.
Does long-term care insurance cover Assisted Living?
Most LTCI policies pay toward Assisted Living once benefit triggers are met — typically needing help with two or more daily activities, or having a cognitive impairment. Check your policy's elimination period, daily benefit amount, and lifetime maximum before comparing Clovis communities.
Are Assisted Living expenses tax deductible?
The portion of Assisted Living fees attributable to medical care may qualify as an itemized medical expense when a licensed practitioner has certified the resident as chronically ill and care follows a written plan. Keep itemized statements from your Clovis community and confirm with a tax professional.
Do you bring your own furniture to Assisted Living?
Usually, yes. Most Clovis Assisted Living communities encourage residents to furnish their suite with their own furniture, photos, and keepsakes so the new home feels familiar from day one. Ask each community what fits the floor plan and what's included.
How do I move a parent with dementia to Assisted Living?
Start with their physician, then tour Clovis communities that offer memory care or dementia-capable staffing. Keep routines and familiar belongings, plan the move for their best time of day, and coordinate the first weeks closely with staff. A local advisor can shortlist secure, well-suited Clovis communities for free.
How does Assisted Living work with Social Security?
Social Security income can be applied toward Assisted Living, but on its own it rarely covers the full monthly cost. Most Clovis families combine it with savings, long-term care insurance, VA benefits, or home equity to bridge the difference.
How do I choose the right Assisted Living community in Clovis?
Tour at least three, ideally around a mealtime, and revisit your favorite unannounced. Check the state license and last inspection date, ask about staffing ratios on nights and weekends, and understand how the community handles medical escalation. A BoomersHub advisor can build the shortlist for free.
Does California Medicaid help pay for Assisted Living in Clovis?
In participating communities, yes — coverage rules and program names vary by state. California-licensed Assisted Living communities can tell you which state Medicaid benefits they accept and whether they offer subsidized units. Neither Medicaid nor Medicare pays for room and board, so ask each Clovis community about their payment mix before you tour.
